Down, Down, Down We Go

Day 36 7/18
Mileage 18
Camped at Trout Creek

What a change today was! We started in coniferous forest that looked a lot like previous days, but it quickly changed into big, open mixed forest with tons of light and bright green maples making up the understory. As we descended, it became more and more lush, and more familiar feeling to me. A lot of today could easily have been Point Reyes or even the Oakland Hills. We also met a bunch of people! Tofu Tom, Grey Hair, her horse, Izzy, her dog, Bo, Mowgli, a slightly confused section hiker, Raindance and Chimp, the next nobos (northbounder in PCT speak), Opa, a guy who I think was French, and a few car campers. And some other people. It's overwhelming. Lots of hills tomorrow, lots of green. Should be nice. We lunched at a real picnic table today. It was the first time in a month that we've eaten at a table. I didn't really know what to do with it, and didn't end up needing it because the food was in my hands the whole time anyway.
